‘Idealist’ tried to halt Saddam’s Kurdish slaughter

2 December, 2008

According to CNN, Peter Galbraith attempted to convince the Reagan White House to stop Iraq’s “genocide” against the Kurds in Iraq.  The Reagan administration, however, did not want to harm its detente with Iraq and so did nothing.  Until “…  in August 1990, Iraq invaded Kuwait, its oil-rich neighbor to the south.  This time, the U.S. compared Saddam to Hitler. And with Kuwait’s oil at stake, the U.S finally screamed bloody murder.”

Another dark chapter in our quest for economic and political power.
