California’s disappearing beaches

31 December, 2008

The Los Angeles Times has a story today about the battle between Malibu homeowners and rising sea levels.  I’d feel more sorry for them if, as a California resident, I had not watched the homeowners slowly seal off public access to the beaches.

The real message here is that melting glaciers are already affecting coastal areas and, as more ice melts, more land will disappear.  Will we be ready?

Meanwhile, I would not suggest buying any property built close to any coastal waters.
