Dems go after the internet next

4 April, 2009

I’ve been rereading the list of Resolutions offered in the House and Senate.  I found the following two bills offered by John D. Rockefeller , IV of West Virginia:    S.773 and S.778.

S. 773 was introduced on 1 April, 2009 and is co-sponsored by Sen.  Bill Nelson of Florida and Sen. Olympia Snowe of Maine ; Sen. Evan Bayh of Indiana, joined as a co-sponsor  on 2 April.    The bill was read twice and then sent to the Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation.  The bill is meant

to ensure the continued free flow of commerce within the United States and with its global trading partners through secure cyber communications, to provide for the continued development and exploitation of the Internet and intranet communications for such purposes, to provide for the development of  a cadre of information technology specialists to improve and maintain effective cybersecurity defenses against disruption, and for other purposes.   ( bold emphasis mine)   (thomas.gov)
