Valerie Jarrett and Michelle Obama – the decision makers

3 August, 2009

I started writing this article several days ago but didn’t really finish it or publish it.  I would still like to remind readers of  the Times story and ask you to think about the implications.  If you need to, do a little research on Jarrett and her involvement with the Obamas.

I’ve been mulling over this article that I read during the week  (“The Ultimate Obama Insider” published on 21 July 2009 in The New York Times). I don’t know how the article was intended to affect the reader; The Times has been pro-Obama since they discovered him, but the the article left me wondering.  I do not think that it paints the president in a good light.  You’ll have to read the article and decide for yourself, but here is my impression.

There was a picture accompanying the article, but it is not in the archives; the caption still is.

Here’s the problem as I see it.  Obama has two women behind him who tell when it is important to do something (doesn’t sound all that presidential to me but that’s what the story says.

The three staff members knew what their only option was at this point. “If you want him to do something,” Gunn would later tell me, “there are two people he’s not going to say no to:   Valerie Jarrett and Michelle Obama.”    here (bold emphasis mine)

Valerie Jarrett has a history in Chicago which you should know about already:

Jarrett continued to work in the mayor’s office in the 1990s. She was Deputy Chief of Staff for Mayor Richard Daley, during which time (1991) she hired Michelle Robinson, then engaged to Barack Obama, away from a private law firm.   Wikipedia article here

That law firm “public service” is also the one where Michelle Robinson met and mentored Barack Obama.

FYI: 1989-1991 Barack Obama worked as a summer associate at Sidley Austin law firm, where he met Michelle Robinson, a Harvard Law School graduate who was his mentor at the firm. The year before Obama arrived there, in 1988, unrepentant Communist terrorist Berndardine Dohrn, left the law firm “for public interest work”  here

Valerie Jarrett, Michelle Robinson Obama, Bernadine Dohrn and Barack Obama all connected since the 1990’s in Chicago politics and public interest work.  And here, at least, are two of them behind the president quietly making decisions for him. If he couldn’t see the implications of his decisions while campaigning and he needs a silent advisor or two to guide him, why is he our president?

What me worried?  Not a chance!
